Unplugged Performance’s UP.FIT division has introduced the first Tesla Model S Plaid specifically designed for law enforcement.
Unveiled at SEMA 2024, the UP.FIT Plaid Pursuit brings together high-performance EV capabilities with customized features built for first responders and designed to support high-speed pursuits and traffic patrol.
The vehicle’s first stop after SEMA will be with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Motorsports community outreach program.
One of the key features setting this patrol car is its innovative electrical wiring harness, developed by UP.FIT specifically for Tesla vehicles. The custom harness integrates forward and rear-facing warning lights directly into the front and rear glass, a feature that boosts aerodynamics compared to traditional rooftop light bars.
Additional lighting is also built into the side skirts, along with a push-bumper equipped with warning lights, and high and low-frequency emergency sirens.
These modifications ensure the Plaid Pursuit’s compliance with California’s Title 13 regulations, making it duty-ready while maintaining a sleek, aerodynamic profile.
Beyond its law enforcement-specific modifications, the Plaid Pursuit also features performance enhancements, including upgraded braking components and UP Forged lightweight wheels. These elements ensure the vehicle’s durability and handling during high-speed pursuits.
“The UP.FIT Plaid Pursuit embodies everything we value in electric police vehicles. From outstanding acceleration and range to reduced maintenance and fuel costs, this platform equips law enforcement with the latest tools to enhance their mission while saving taxpayers’ money and promoting a cleaner future,” Ben Schaffer, CEO of Unplugged Performance said in a press release.
