Tesla is set to draw a large audience at the 2024 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai, China this week, with a display that will include the Cybertruck, as well as the second generation of its humanoid robot, Optimus Gen 2.
The 2024 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, taking place from July 4 to July 7 at the Shanghai World Expo Center, is a significant event in the world of AI, with an exhibition area spanning 5.6 million square feet. The conference will cover key areas such as large models, computing power, robotics, and autonomous driving.
While the Cybertruck isn’t brand new to China, having been touring around the country since earlier this year, Tesla will draw more attendees to its booth, where it will be showcasing Optimus Gen 2, the latest generation of its humanoid robot.

The latest Optimus, unveiled in December last year, features significant advancements in mobility and functionality. It is equipped with in-house designed actuators and sensors, including a 2-DoF (degrees of freedom) actuated neck, and it can walk 30 percent faster than its predecessor.
Even though Tesla has only been working on Optimus for around two years, the company has already begun integrating the humanoid robots into its manufacturing processes. Last month, Tesla announced the deployment and integration of two Optimus bots at one of its factories.
