Tesla will soon have a presence in Israel, as it appears the EV automaker will be expanding to the new market in January 2020.
In advance of the opening, Tesla registered a fully owned subsidiary company in Israel – Tesla Motors Israel Ltd. in November 2019. Then earlier this month, Tesla advertised for both a country manager and sales manager in Israel (via Globes).
According to a report from Calcalistech, who spoke to several people familiar with the matter on the condition of anonymity, said that Tesla has already established a pop-up store in the popular Ramat Aviv Mall in north Tel Aviv. The same mall has seen pop-up stores from other automakers like Mini, Mazda, and Peugeot in the past.
The pop-up store will allow potential customers to get an up-close and personal look at Tesla vehicles, and even place orders in advance of the official launch next month.
Tesla EV’s will be classified as a ‘luxury’ vehicle in Israel due to the starting price of NIS 250,000 (approximately $94,300 CAD). Israel currently has tax benefits for EV purchasers, but those are being phased out on January 1, 2020.
