Tesla to add another colour option in North America: Elon Musk

Tesla customers in North America will soon be able to pick a new paint colour option for the vehicle. However, it won’t be one of the brand new colours added to Giga Berlin, Quicksilver or Midnight Cherry Red.

After the additions to Giga Berlin, many fans asked CEO Elon Musk on Twitter if the company’s Paint Shops at their other factories would also see them added.

Unfortunately Musk said the new colours will only be available at Giga Berlin, but in a peace offering he said “Yes” to at least adding another colour option for customers in North America.

Musk didn’t clarify what the new colour option would be, or whether it would be offered from both their Fremont factory and Giga Texas Paint Shops.

That decision is an important one because Tesla only delivers cars built at Giga Texas to the eastern two-thirds of the United States. We have also yet to see an Austin-built Model Y make its way to Canada.

Currently customers can pick from five colour options – Pearl White Multi-Coat, Midnight Silver Metallic, Deep Blue Metallic, Solid Black, or Red Multi-Coat.

Two possibilities for the new colour could be ones that have most recently been discontinued, Silver Metallic and Obsidian Black Metallic, both of which were removed from the Design Studio in 2018.
