Tesla Supercharger in Brockville opens after 7-year wait [Ontario]

Tesla owners in Ontario can finally celebrate as the long-awaited Supercharger in Brockville, Ontario, is officially open.

The journey to this opening has been unusually long, even by Tesla standards. Originally announced in 2018 with an expected location at SmartCentres Brockville on Parkedale Avenue, the project saw multiple delays, shifting timelines, and even locations.

It quickly became a running joke among Ontario Tesla owners, with many doubting it would ever materialize. It took a while, but construction finally began in early 2023 at 125 Stewart Blvd, leading many to believe it would open soon. However, even after the start on construction, the delays continued as the site was completed but sat idle and covered up for nearly a year.

On the same day the Tesla share prices reached a new record high, the curse was finally lifted and the 8-stall V3 Brockville Supercharger is now open. According to the mobile app, it costs $0.67/kWh to plug in and charge.

Brockville’s new Supercharger will play a key role in bridging gaps in the Tesla charging network in this part of Ontario, particularly along the Highway 401 corridor between Kingston and Cornwall.

In other Ontario Supercharger news, construction has just started on a new station in Oakville. Tesla is also currently building Superchargers in Ingersoll and Severn, with another in Severn expected to follow soon.
