Tesla Shares Vision of Completed Semi Factory as Construction Progresses at Giga Nevada

The construction of Tesla’s Semi factory at Gigafactory Nevada is already underway, and the company has now shared a rendering of what the completed facility will look like.

The render was shared by Dan Priestley, Head of the Tesla Semi Program, depicting a sprawling facility emblazoned with the word “Semi” atop the building, accompanied by dozens of docking bays designed to accommodate the class 8 electric trucks.

Along with the render, Priestley also shared a photograph of the current construction site, showing work on the concrete footings for foundation of the upcoming factory is already well underway.

The official announcement of the new Semi factory came early in 2023, with Tesla revealing plans to invest $3.6 billion to expand Giga Nevada. However, the originally announced project was set to include up to four million square feet added to the existing Giga Nevada facility for producing the Semi and 4680 batteries.

Plans have since change and now the Semi will be manufactured in a brand-new building separate from the existing factory.

Tesla aims to complete the facility and start Semi production by late 2025, with initial deliveries to external customers expected by early 2026. Tesla previously indicated that the facility could produce up to 50,000 Semi trucks annually.

Tesla delivered the first Semi units to PepsiCo in late 2022. Since then, Tesla has expanded its testing partners to include major companies such as Costco, Martin Brower, and Walmart, and others.
