Tesla removing free premium music streaming accounts for Premium Connectivity subscribers

Tesla will no longer be providing free premium accounts for music streaming services for owners with a Premium Connectivity subscription. The changes will take effect on December 1, 2024, and will impact different music streaming services, depending on where in the world you live.

For Tesla owners in North America with a Premium Connectivity subscription, you will no longer have a free premium account to the music streaming service Slacker, which was renamed to LiveOne in a recent software update. In an email sent to Premium Connectivity subscribers on Tuesday, Tesla did not explain the reason for the change, explaining that customers can continue to use LiveOne, but will now have to set up their own account, and if you want, pay for your own subscription.

According to the company’s website, there is a free ad-supported option, but if you want no ads, unlimited song skipping , and the best audio quality, you can purchase a Premium subscription for $39.99 per year. This will allow you to use LiveOne Premium in your Tesla, but also on your mobile and other devices.

In an announcement, LiveOne said they will offer “discounted priority pricing” to Tesla owners, without saying how much that will be. Importantly, for Tesla owners that have a free lifetime subscription to Premium Connectivity, a free LiveOne Premium account will continue to be included after December 1.

Elsewhere in the world, like in Australia and Europe, Tesla is removing the free Spotify Premium account that was included with the Premium Connectivity subscription.

Tesla provided free Spotify Premium accounts in Australia, Europe, and other markets where LiveOne is not available.
