Tesla owners in Ontario face LTE connectivity outage

Tesla owners in Ontario with Premium Connectivity subscriptions have been faced with no LTE connectivity since last night, leaving them unable to access music streaming, real-time traffic information, and other services that rely on Tesla’s data connection.

The problems appear to be subsiding, and according to Tesla the problems were due to a network outage.

According to DownDetector, the first reports of loss of LTE connectivity began around 5:00pm ET (8:00pm PT). While there was a slowdown in reports of issues through the night, that was likely due to less people being in their cars during this time, as the number of reports peaked in the early morning hours as people headed off to work.

Based on a map of where the reports were coming from, the problem was clearly centered in southern Ontario.

When the problems first started occurring, many owners reported the issue to Tesla, opening service tickets through the mobile app. One of our readers, @heyEuclid, did this, and received a response from Tesla saying they were aware of the issue, and that it was due to a network outage.

Tesla Service went on to say that their technical team is investigating the issue with their network provider, which in Canada is Telus.

Based on what our followers on X are reporting, the issues are persisting on Wednesday morning, but many are also reporting their LTE connection has been restored, so it appears the issue is on its way to being resolved.

If you are continuing to have issues, an interim fix is to hot spot your phone to your vehicle. This is something you will have to do every time you get into the car however, as the connection is lost whenever you get out.
