Tesla owners in China can now purchase accessories on Alibaba’s Tmall

In an effort to better meet the needs of a new generation of buyers in China, Tesla has officially launched its virtual store on Alibaba Group’s Tmall website.

The store, which launched on Thursday, does not sell cars, but users can reserve test drives of Model 3, Model S, and Model X vehicles at a local Tesla store.

Users can also purchase official Tesla accessories for Tesla’s lineup of vehicles in China, like you can from Tesla.com in North America. Products available include floor mats, key fobs, sun shades, tire repair kits and more.

In an official statement to announce the opening, the automaker said this new virtual store will greatly increase Tesla’s visibilty in China, and also can now service customers through their entire user experience with Tesla.

After joining the Tmall platform, Tesla has formed an entire life cycle including after-sales service, car service and accessories. The company can better meet the new generation of Chinese consumers and they can purchase vehicle accessories online.

According to the website, the top sellers since it launched are the Model 3 and Model X test drives, and Model 3 keyfobs and all-weather floor mats.

Tesla has seen very strong sales in recent months in China since the coronavirus outbreak. Both February and March saw record sales number, with Tesla selling 10,160 vehicles in March.
