Tesla opens Canada’s northernmost Supercharger in Valleyview [Alberta]

Tesla’s Supercharger team in Canada has been working hard lately, and has now opened its fourth Supercharger station this week, this time in Valleyview, Alberta. What makes this Supercharger noteworthy is that it is the northernmost Supercharger in the country.

As we have been reporting lately, Valleyview was among one of the projects waiting the longest to be turned on in Canada. Construction began nearly a year ago in October 2023, and according to Tesla initially had a targeted opening date of Q4 2023.

That date was obviously missed, but it was finally turned on yesterday afternoon, just a few hours after crews turned on the Supercharger in Whitecourt.

The Valleyview Supercharger is located at the Paradise Inn hotel (3609 Highway Street) and has just 4 V3 (250kW) stalls. It costs $0.67 to plug in, and this Supercharger is also open to Ford and Rivian EVs with a NACS adapter.

Valleyview is now Canada’s northernmost Supercharger. That title was held for only a few hours by the Supercharger in Whitecourt, and before that by Prince George, BC.

However, it is not the northernmost Supercharger in North America or the world. Those titles belong to Soldotna, Alaska and Varangobotn, Norway, respectively.

According to a recent update from Tesla, the Superchargers in North Saanich, BC, Kananaskis, AB, and Digby, NS should also be opening this month.
