Tesla launches Premium Connectivity annual subscription [Update]

Tesla has launched a new annual Premium Connectivity subscription option today, less than one week after the first signs of the new payment option were spotted in the mobile app.

According to Redditor u/iamVG, owners can now subscribe to Premium Connectivity for $99 USD per year, excluding tax.

The new payment option is available both within the car, and in the mobile app, and results in a savings of $20.88 per year compared to the previous (and still available) $9.99 per month option ($119.88 annually).

UPDATE 8:32am PST: Tesla has added the $99 annual subscription to the Premium Connectivity support page in the US. The Canadian version of the page has no mention of an annual option, confirming this is currently not available in Canada.

Tesla worked quickly to add the annual subscription option. It was only on December 23rd when Tesla enthusiast Zack (@BLKMDL3) asked CEO Elon Musk on Twitter if he would consider adding it as a way to save money.

Musk replied with “Good idea,” and now two months later (to the day) the feature is available to owners.

We have so far only seen reports of the annual subscription being available in the United States. If any of our Canadian readers have it, let us know in the comments below, or reach out to us at tips@driveteslacanada.ca.
