Tesla is ramping up hiring for its newest U.S. manufacturing hub — a $200 million Megafactory under construction in Brookshire, Texas. Ahead of the official opening, the company is hosting a job fair this week to fill dozens of open positions. The new site will produce Tesla’s utility-scale Megapack batteries, further expanding the company’s energy storage footprint in the U.S.
Tesla has had as many as 41 positions listed on its careers page this month for the Brookshire facility, ranging from senior manufacturing engineers and welders to technical writers and production managers.
Ramiro Bautista, project manager for the City of Brookshire’s economic development department, confirmed with the Houston Business Journal that the company is holding a job fair this week to accelerate local recruitment.

The Brookshire plant will mirror Tesla’s Megafactory in Lathrop, California, and Shanghai, China, each of which produce up to 10,000 Megapacks annually—enough for 40 gigawatt hours of energy storage. The batteries are designed for large-scale renewable energy projects, helping to stabilize power grids and store electricity when solar and wind generation dip.
Under a tax abatement agreement with Waller County Commissioners Court, Tesla has committed to employing at least 375 workers at the Brookshire site by the end of 2026, growing that number to 750 by the end of 2027 and 1,500 by the end of 2028. The company must maintain that employment level through 2036 as part of a 10-year abatement period.
The new facility is located in Empire West Business Park, where Tesla leases two massive buildings totaling more than 1.6 million square feet. The company plans to invest about $44 million in building improvements and another $150 million in advanced manufacturing equipment — including robotic welding cells, automated conveyors, and assembly lines. A second, 616,000-square-foot structure will serve as a warehouse and distribution hub once completed.
