Tesla announces official relocation of its corporate headquarters to Giga Texas

In a regulatory filing published this afternoon Tesla has officially announced it has relocated its corporate headquarters from Palo Alto, California to Austin, Texas.

The move was first announced by Elon Musk at the Annual Meeting of Stockholders in October, after first hinting at it with the release of the Q3 2021 earnings report from Texas.

In the 8-K filing, Tesla revealed the official address as being just north of Giga Texas at 13101 Harold Green Road.

The first indication Tesla would move its headquarters from California Texas took place in 2019, just as the COVID-19 pandemic was taking hold in California. The restrictions placed on businesses at the time forced Tesla to shut down their only factory in North America for an extended period.

With strong precautions in place, Tesla reopened the factory even though local restrictions had not yet been lifted. The move resulted in California Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez tweeting “F*k Elon Musk.”

To which Musk simply replied “Message received.”
