SpaceX Offers Free Starlink Service for Hurricane Helene Victims

SpaceX is stepping up to support those affected by Hurricane Helene, which has left widespread devastation in its wake, offering free Starlink internet service for 30 days.

Hurricane Helene has caused significant destruction across several regions, including power outages and damage to infrastructure that has left many areas without reliable internet access. Communication is essential during such emergencies, enabling people to stay connected with loved ones, access vital resources, and coordinate disaster response.

With traditional internet services often slow to recover after storms of this magnitude, SpaceX has already donated hundreds of Starlink kits to quickly restore connectivity where it’s most needed.

Now SpaceX has stepped up again by offering free Starlink service for 30 days, according to a post by Starlink on X.

According to the Starlink website, new customers in eligible areas can sign up through the Starlink website by selecting the “Helene Relief” plan, while current customers can request relief credits via support tickets. Starlink has also temporarily raised the kit activation limit for those supporting emergency response teams, allowing up to 20 Starlink kits to be added per order.

After the 30-day period, users will transition to a paid subscription, though Starlink will continue to evaluate conditions and notify customers before any changes occur. Further details will be updated as needed.

SpaceX has a history of stepping in with its Starlink service during natural disasters. The company provided similar assistance in the aftermath of hurricanes and other crises in the past, including the Tonga volcanic eruption and floods in Kentucky.
