Rivian to spend $4.6M on new service support center as first deliveries near

Rivian is gearing up to begin the first customer deliveries of the R1T electric pickup truck any day now. To support all the new owners over the coming months and years the company is opening a service support operations facility in Plymouth, Michigan.

Rivian will spend up to $4.6 million on the new facility, $750,000 of which will be provided through the Michigan Business Development Program.

In a press release the automaker says it will “support all Rivian owners” by providing “around-the-clock assistance by the Rivian Roadside and Service Support team to North American Rivian owners with vehicle questions, roadside requests and service scheduling needs.”

The new center will create 100 high-paying jobs in the area, adding to the hundreds of others they have created since opening their headquarters in Plymouth.

Earlier this year Rivian announced their service plan, which includes up to 40 physical service centers as well as mobile service through its “Rivian Remote Care” program.

If mobile service is unable to fix any issues with the car, the company will take it to one of the service centers and return it when the work is complete.
