As Rivian sales continue to increase in North America, the company took a major step in Canada and announced its first-ever service centre in Canada.
As per Automotive News, the first Rivian service facility outside the United States will be in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Rivian has been hiring staff since June for the location.
The company hopes to open the service centre in the fall.
Rivian did not confirm the location as of yet.
Rivian is now operating 21 service centres around the United States. Another half a dozen are planned to open by the end of the year.
For Rivian, the service centre is both practical and a spot to showcase the R1T and R1s.
As San Francisco Rivian field service manager Nataly Tomafsky said:
Everybody ends up finding our location, so now we have people coming in to take a look at our vehicles. So that’s also a selling point.
Rivian, like other start-up auto manufacturers, is working its way through post-sale support.
In their first-quarter shareholder letter, the company noted that the post-sale environment is high on the priority list. The letter stated:
Depending on the customer’s situation, we can offer either physical service via a service center and mobile service or digital service options. If collision repair is needed, we can leverage our network of third-party collision repair centers as well as in-house collision repair.
Opening service centres in Canada and the United States is a positive step forward for Rivian and one we can all get behind.
