Qatar Airways Launches Toronto Route with Starlink-Equipped Boeing 777s

Qatar Airways has celebrated a significant dual milestone this week, marking the launch of its second Canadian destination, Toronto, alongside the successful installation of Starlink high-speed internet on 15 of its Boeing 777 aircraft.

Toronto now joins Montreal as Qatar Airways’ second Canadian destination, with the inaugural non-stop flight between Hamad International Airport in Doha and Toronto Pearson International Airport touching down at YYZ on December 12.

Qatar Airways continues to improve the in-flight experience with its adoption of Starlink internet. As the first airline to equip Boeing 777s with this technology, Qatar Airways provided Toronto-bound passengers with seamless connectivity, allowing for activities such as streaming, gaming, and working during their entire flight, from the moment they board until the plane arrives at the gate at its destination.

Qatar Airways has exceeded its own expectations. Initially targeting 12 aircraft for this upgrade by the end of 2024, the airline is ahead of schedule, fitting 15 777s with Starlink in just 55 days.

The Toronto-Doha route operates three times weekly, every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Each flight departs Doha at 8:10 a.m. and arriving in Toronto at 2:15 p.m. The return journey departs Toronto at 8:00 p.m., arriving in Doha the following afternoon.
