Porsche Canada is boosting its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure by partnering with ChargePoint. This strategic collaboration aims to bolster the Porsche Charging Service, significantly increasing the number of available chargers for Porsche customers across Canada and North America.
The partnership will integrate ChargePoint’s network of EV chargers into the My Porsche app, making over 20,000 chargers accessible to Porsche drivers in Canada alone. This integration will allow Porsche EV and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) owners to easily find, use, and pay at ChargePoint and roaming partner charging stations through a single platform.
The expanded charging network will be available to Porsche customers starting in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Timo Resch, CEO of Porsche Cars North America, highlighted the strategic timing of this partnership ahead of the launch of the highly anticipated Macan Electric. “The partnership is well-timed as we look forward to the arrival of both the new Taycan and the all-new Macan Electric later this year. This move aligns with Porsche’s broader strategy to support its growing lineup of electric vehicles, ensuring customers have convenient and reliable charging options.”
The collaboration with ChargePoint complements Porsche’s existing partnership with Electrify Canada, which provides fast-charging solutions for Porsche customers.
Looking ahead, Porsche is also preparing to implement the North American Charging Standard (NACS) charging port for its future products starting in 2025. The company is exploring adapter solutions to enable existing vehicles to access the Tesla Supercharger network, further expanding charging options for its customers.
