Porsche Canada and Electrify Canada partner to provide Taycan owners with 3 years of free charging

Porsche Cars Canada and Electrify Canada have just announced a new agreement between the two companies that will see Canadian Porsche Taycan buyers receive 3 years of charging at all of Electrify Canada’s public charging stations.

Electrify Canada currently only has two public charging stations open across the country, both of them in Ontario. They have plans to open 32 additional stations by next year, including up to 20 at select Canadian Tire locations across the country.

Owners will have to read the fine print though, as the agreement only provides 30 minutes of free charging per session. Each Electrify Canada charging station will have at least one 350kW charger, meaning a Taycan owner could reportedly charge from 5% to 80% in just under 23 minutes. If that one 350kW charger is busy or not in operation, the Taycan owner would have to settle for the additional chargers at 150kW, resulting in longer charge times and charging fees.

The free charging will likely come in very handy, as EPA ratings for the Taycan Turbo were just released, and it achieved a rated range of just 323km. When charging to 80%, that is just 258km of rated range, which in winter would be reduced even further. The EPA ratings have not yet been released for the lower trim model, the Porsche Taycan 4S.

The Porsche Taycan comes in 3 variants, with the 4S starting at $119,400 CAD, the Taycan Turbo starting at $173,900 for the Taycan Turbo, and $213,900 for the Taycan Turbo S.
