Polestar cars announced this morning that they have begun Canadian deliveries of their highly anticipated Polestar 2 electric vehicle (EV).
Originally planned for a late summer release, late regulatory approvals from Transport Canada forced delivery dates to be pushed back. Adding to the delays were software issues and faulty components that forced the Swedish automaker to issue two recalls in Europe in less than 30 days.
Along with the first deliveries, Polestar is also preparing to open their first Canadian retail locations, known as Polestar Spaces this month. In Toronto, a permanent Space will open on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 55 Avenue Road in Yorkville, giving customers the opportunity to see the EV first hand, and place an orders.
Vancouver will open a temporary Space on December 18, 2020 in Yaletown at 1050 Homer Street. The temporary Polestar Space in Montreal is opening imminently at Carrefour Laval.
The Polestar 2 has a base price of $69,900 CDN, and features 408 horsepower and 487lb-ft of torque from a 78kWh battery pack. The EV recently received its EPA and NRCAN certifications, and can travel 375km (233 miles) on a single charge.
