Mercedes-Benz reveals upcoming EQE SUV in addition to a high-performance AMG version

Mercedes-Benz has a new EV to showcase and has released details in multiple press releases. The new electric SUV is the EQE, but it is accompanied by another car, the Mercedes-AMG EQE SUV offering higher performance.

Mercedes and Rivian partner on EV van production in Europe.

The German automaker teased photos of the EQE SUV interior in August, promising to reveal more soon. We now have three press releases containing details about the electric car.

Mercedes says the European EQE SUV offers 342 miles (WLTP estimate), enough for most practical scenarios. It will be powered by a battery pack with ten modules and management software developed in-house.

Charging maxes out at 9.6 kW on AC and 170 kW on DC. A heat pump comes standard on the car.

Buyers can choose between single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD.

The AMG EQE comes standard with two electric motors. Other differentiations include AMG RIDE CONTROL, air suspension with Adaptive Damping System, rear-wheel steering, AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL, AMG SOUND EXPERIENCE, optional wall-to-wall Hyperscreen, etc.

However, it will get a shorter driving range of 233 to 292 miles (WLTP).

The standard EQE will enter production in December in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The battery will be produced in Bibb County, nearby.

Mercedes has not released pricing details, but it might attempt to qualify for the new EV incentive, limiting it to $80,000.

Fellow German automaker Audi is considering setting up production facilities in the US to qualify for the same incentives.
