Mercedes Benz goes really big with their new ‘hyperscreen’ display

Daimler unveiled their new in-car display screen on Thursday, which will cover nearly the entire dashboard of its upcoming EQ electric vehicles (EVs).

Referring to it as a “hyperscreen”, Daimler CEO Ola Källenius said it will debut first in the luxury EQS sedan, which is scheduled to be released later this year.

Källenius said customer demand was the key driver in determining the size of the screen, which comes in at a whopping 56-inches (142.24cm). Who’s going to say Tesla’s 15-inch and 17-inch displays are too large now?

Recognizing the massive screen might not be everyone’s taste, it will be an optional upgrade. Even so, the German automaker expects it to be a popular one.

The screen will handle many of the vehicle’s functions and display the speedometer, music, and navigation features. Passengers will also be able to watch TV without disturbing the driver, according to a press release.

Aside from looking pretty, Mercedes Benz is hoping to use the screen as a source of revenue through future subscription services.
