Lucid Air Grand Touring tops NAF Winter Test with 520 km range in record cold

Each winter, Norway’s Norges Automobil-Forbund (NAF) Winter Test, known as “El Prix,” evaluates electric vehicle (EV) range under real-world Nordic driving conditions. In the 2026 edition of the test the Lucid Air Grand Touring achieved the longest range among all contenders.

This year’s test was the coldest test on record, with temperatures dropping to –31°C. Despite those brutal conditions, the Lucid Air Grand Touring emerged as the range leader, traveling 520 km (323 miles) on a single charge.

To put that result into perspective, the next closest competitor, the Mercedes-Benz CLA, managed 421 km (261 miles), leaving the Lucid nearly 100 km (62 miles) ahead of the pack.

Unlike controlled laboratory evaluations, the NAF Winter Test is designed to replicate everyday Nordic driving. Vehicles begin fully charged and follow an identical route that includes urban traffic in Oslo, high-speed highways, winding mountain roads, and snow-covered rural stretches.

The final segment between Hjerkinn and Rondane Gjestegård is repeated until each vehicle can no longer maintain the required speed. This year’s test included 24 EVs, including the Tesla Model Y, which covered 359 km (223) miles before needing a recharge.

The winter victory builds on a growing list of range achievements for Lucid. In the NAF Summer Test 2025, the Lucid Air Grand Touring covered 828.6 km (514.9 miles), breaking a record that had stood since 2023. Later that year, a Lucid Air Grand Touring also secured a Guinness World Records title for the longest journey by an electric car on a single charge, traveling 1,205 km.

You can see the full test results on the NAF website.
