Hyundai reveals the design of the new IONIQ 6

Hyundai has released the design of their next electric vehicle (EV), the IONIQ 6.

The IONIQ 6 is being hailed as an electrified streamliner that uses sustainable materials throughout its composition.

Taking a lot of its inspiration from the Hyundai Prophecy EV concept, the IONIQ 6 has clean and simple lines throughout its build.

Hyundai’s Vice President and Head of Hyundai Design Center Sangyup Lee had this to say about the new vehicle

IONIQ 6 connects an emotional convergence of functionality with aesthetics. The distinctive streamlined design is the result of close cooperation between engineers and designers, with obsessive attention to detail and customer-centric values at the core. We have created the IONIQ 6 as a mindful cocoon that offers personalized place for all.

The IONIQ 6 is being built on Hyundai’s Electric Global Modular Platform.

The vehicle will also feature dual colour ambient lighting, a 12-inch full-touch infotainment system, a 12-inch digital cluster, and a user-centric interior with ergonomically designed features.

The new design also brings sustainable materials to the forefront. Depending on the trim level, clients can choose from:

  • Eco-process leather or recycled PET fabric seats
  • Bio TPO skin on the dashboard
  • Bio PET fabric for the headline
  • Bio paint for the doors made from vegetable oils and;
  • Fishing net carpet

The full specs and technical run-through will happen at the IONIQ 6 world premiere next month.
