Tesla is transforming the delivery experience for new owners with plans to open a new customer Delivery Center at Giga Texas. The facility will let buyers pick up their vehicles directly from the factory, offering a more exciting alternative to traditional deliveries.
According to Giga Texas observer and drone pilot Joe Tegtmeyer, Tesla has quietly been conducting limited direct deliveries out of Giga Texas for several months, including the first fully autonomous delivery of a vehicle from the factory to the other side of Austin.
Now Tesla is taking it a step further with a permanent facility designed to handle a larger volume of customer pickups.
The new Delivery Center is being developed on the north end of the plant’s West End-of-Line building, where completed vehicles roll off the production line. This area will serve as a public-facing delivery hub where customers can finalize paperwork, complete the transfer of ownership, and drive away in their new Tesla.
To accommodate the new delivery flow, Tesla is building additional road infrastructure. A new access point is being constructed on the northwest corner of the outbound lot, connecting to a north-south road that links Tesla Road on one end and River Road on the other. This will give customers direct access to the pickup area without interfering with the plant’s internal logistics.

Tesla originally planned to construct a separate “Welcome Center” closer to Tesla Road, but those plans have now shifted. Instead, the visitor facility will be built just north of the End-of-Line building, taking advantage of the new public road connection.
According to Tegtmeyer, the new Delivery Center should be up and running by the end of the month. It is unclear at this time if Tesla will allow any customer to pick up their new vehicle from Giga Texas, or if it will be limited to new owners in Texas and nearby states. It is also unclear if Tesla will waive the traditional destination fee added to all orders, or if they will also give customers the option to take a factory tour.

Tegtmeyer also says there are also ongoing discussions about a possible second Boring Company tunnel that could connect different areas of the plant, potentially moving Model Y vehicles between the production line and delivery zones.
Earlier this year Tesla opened the Cybertunnel, in which newly built Cybertrucks travel from the Giga Texas production line under the highway to the staging lot to the west of the factory.
For customers, the new option promises a unique experience – taking possession of a Tesla directly from the factory where it was built. Beyond convenience, it adds a symbolic layer of connection to the company’s mission and manufacturing footprint.
