Ford has announced a new addition to the all-electric Mustang Mach-E lineup, and if it is able to live up to the targeted numbers, it could be a quick one.
The Mach-E GT Performance Edition will pump out 480 horsepower and 634 lb-ft of torque, which will give it a ‘targeted’ 0-60mph time of 3.5 seconds. Ford uses the word targeted because the figure is “calculated via peak performance of the electric motor(s) at peak battery power.”
“We already pushed the envelope by creating an electric vehicle with the pony badge, so it’s only natural that we push it even further. Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition not only gives you the added performance you expect from the GT name, but accentuates the thrill with the responsiveness of an all-electric powertrain,” said Darren Palmer, Ford’s global director, battery-electric vehicles, in a news release.
With that added performance, the range of the GT Performance Edition is 235 miles (378km), more than 65 miles (100km) less than some of the other variants, who’s EPA/NRCAN ratings were recently released.
Along with the increased power and performance, the Performance Edition will also come equipped with:
- 19-inch front brakes with red-painted Brembo calipers
- 20-inch machined-face Ebony Black “painted pockets” in the wheels with 245/45R20 Pirelli summer tires
- MagneRide suspension that helps to improve handling performance
Pricing for the Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition will be announced in the spring of 2021, with the first deliveries not starting until the summer of 2021.
