The Isle of Wight Council apologized to the public as three of their EV chargers were recently hacked.
The three charge points showed a porn website on the charger screen rather than the network’s website.
The Council has since contacted the company and will have council staff periodically visit the charge points to ensure the issue does not happen again.
The three charge points were in the three communities of Ryde, Cowes and Freshwater, according to a report by the BBC.
The EV chargers were initially part of the ChargePoint Genie network. However, they recently changed hands and are now operated by the GeniePoint network.
The Isle of Wight Council is also working to replace several charge points in council car parks that are unreliable. Council identified these problem EV chargers earlier this year.
The Isle of Wight is the largest of the channel islands and is near Southampton in England. The island is home to over 140,000 people and currently has 27 EV charge points installed by the Council.
