Enel X Way North America Exits Canadian and U.S. Markets, Impacting JuiceBox Customers and Public Fast Charging Stations

Enel X Way North America has announced the closure of its business operations in Canada and the United States, a move that will have a signficant impact on customers with the residential Juicebox EV charger, as well as those EV drivers that rely on Enel X Way’s public DC fast charging stations.

With the closure of the business, Enel X way says the JuiceBox will continue to be able to charge vehicles physically, however all associated software services will be discontinued, and the associated mobile app will be removed the app stores. Customer service will also no longer be available, effective immediately.

Juicebox EV chargers were a relatively popular option in the home charging market, with local utility companies often offering them at a discount to attract customers.

There is also a significant impact for Enel X Way’s commercial charging stations, which will become non-functional without ongoing software support.

In a press release announcing the closure, the company says it plans to concentrate its efforts on offering bundled solutions that integrate private charging systems for its electricity customers and expanding public charging infrastructure in markets where it maintains a retail electricity presence.

Unlike its international subsidiaries, Enel North America does not have a retail electricity customer base, instead focusing on the distribution of charging hardware and software, until now.
