British Columbia’s electric vehicle (EV) charger rebate program is back up and running after a fresh infusion of funds.
The CleanBC Charger Rebate program was first launched in 2019. The program, which offers a rebate of up to $350 on the purchase and installation of a qualifying charger, was so popular it had to be shut down in February after it ran out of money.
Fortunately the province announced new funding in the BC Budget 2021 last week, and the program has now officially reopened.
You can learn more about the program and the eligible costs, installations, and chargers (Tesla’s HPWC is included) on the BC Hydro website.
When the program was first announced, numerous level 2 chargers were eligible for the rebate. Notably missing from the list was Tesla’s HPWC.
After some outcry from owners that the most popular EV maker was excluded from the rebate program, BC Hydro announced less than a week later that it had been officially added to the list of eligible chargers.
