AAA names Ford Mustang Mach-E their 2022 Best Overall Car, Snubs Tesla

The American Automobile Association (AAA) named the Ford Mustang Mach-E the Best Overall Car in the American Market as part of the 2022 AAA Car Guide.

AAA uses a set of 12 criteria to rank vehicles. All vehicles are tested, scored and placed in one of five categories by the Automotive Research Center based in Southern California.

This is what AAA said about the Ford Mustang Mach-E

The Mustang Mach-E isn’t just a car; it’s a phenomenon. The Mach-E is a great-looking car – unmistakably a Mustang, but new from the ground up. It’s powerful, quick, and fun to drive. The roomy cabin is quiet; Ford’s full suite of advanced safety features Co-Pilot360, is standard.

However, AAA did note some issues with the vehicle, including:

  • Not a great drive on uneven or potholed streets
  • Braking and acceleration could be better at low speeds
  • User experience on the centre console could be better

Interestingly, as per the 178 page AAA Car Guide, which includes all the rankings, one major manufacturer did not make the guide – Tesla.

Tesla vehicles did not get a single test drive, nor was the company mentioned in the Car Guide.

Considering EVs swept the podium of the AAA rankings, not including Tesla is a bit of a head scratcher.

AAA did not provide a comment on Tesla’s omission or a reason for the snub.
