2024 Volkswagen ID.4 upgraded with more power, tech, and comfort

Volkswagen has announced the 2024 ID.4 has received a series of substantial upgrades that promise to enhance performance, comfort, and technological integration.

For the 2024 model year VW has introduced a new performance drive unit for the 82 kWh models, delivering an increase in horsepower—up to 282 for rear-wheel drive (RWD) models and 335 for all-wheel drive (AWD) models. This boost represents a significant improvement over the previous model year, enhancing both acceleration and range.

In terms of technology, there is a new 12.9-inch infotainment display with backlit sliders and a more intuitive climate control interface in the 82 kWh models. Additional interior upgrades include ventilated front-row seats and a premium harman/kardon audio system with nine speakers plus a subwoofer.

On the outside, the 2024 ID.4 is also getting wheel upgrades, with sizes ranging from 19” to 21”.

With an EPA-estimated range of up to 468km (291 miles) for the 82 kWh version, and 332km (206 miles) for the 62kWh version. The ID.4 AWD models have an estimated range of 423km (263 miles).

The 2024 ID.4 is equipped with a 11kW onboard charger, allowing for a full charge on the 62kWh battery in just over six hours, or eight hours if you have the 82kWh battery. Fast charging can get up to 140kW on the 62kWh versions of the ID.4. The 82kWh version get a slight bump up to 175kW, meaning a charge from 10% to 80% will take 28 minutes, according to Volkswagen.

The 2024 ID.4 starts at C$48,495 for 62 kWh models and C$52,995 for 82 kWh models, meaning all of them qualify for the $5,000 federal iZEV rebate, and additional provincial rebates if applicable.

These new ID.4 SUVs are built in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and are available for immediate delivery.
