Tesla offering $3,750 discount on Model 3/Y in Q4 push, but only in the US [Update]

With one month left in the quarter and the year Tesla wants to get as many cars as possible into the hands of customers. As part of their Q4 push the automaker is now offering a discount to customers who take delivery before the end of the year.

According to a text message sent to WaitingForTesla, a third-party Tesla inventory tracker who is waiting for their new Model Y to be delivered, the automaker announced today a $3,750 discount on any Model 3 or Model Y delivered on or before December 31, 2022.

Based on the message it appears as though the discount applies to both new and inventory vehicles, and is not limited to a specific variant of the 3/Y.

UPDATE 9:29am PT: Tesla is also advertising the discount on their website.

Unfortunately we have been able to confirm with a Tesla Delivery Advisor in Canada that no such discount is being offered to customers here at this time, and it is unlikely to be extended north of the border.

Through the first three quarters of the year Tesla has delivered 908,573 vehicles, just below what they were able to deliver in all of 2021. With a strong final quarter Tesla could reach the 1.5 million delivery mark, which would represent a 50% growth in deliveries year-over-year (YoY), a figure which the automaker has said they hoped to achieve.

With this discount Tesla appears to be close to that goal.

There is also the matter of the $7,500 tax credit that is coming to the US next year, and Tesla could be trying to get customers to take delivery now instead of pushing their orders off to next year.
