It is common knowledge that Kia is working on the EV9, an electric SUV with three rows of seats. However, the shape of the car appears to be emerging, courtesy of some spy shots that have made their way onto the internet.
The car in the shots, which is camouflaged, looks close to the box shape of the concept revealed in 2021. Kia was testing the prototype at the Nurburgring circuit in Germany, apparently for performance and handling.
Now other details about the EV9 may have leaked due to a customer survey viewed by a Kia Telluride owner and shared with Electrek. The survey revealed the SUV could offer driving ranges between 220 and 290 miles.
Performance-wise, the base model will produce 220 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque, with no all-wheel drive and towing capacity. More expensive trims will have more horsepower, torque, and towing capability.
The EV9 may also cost between $56,000 and $73,000. If the prices are correct, the EV9 will be the most affordable electric three-row SUV. The Tesla Model X and Rivian R1S often cost more than $100,000.
Price | Range | HP | Torque (lb-ft) | Towing (lbs) | Wheel | 0-to-60 (sec) | |
Trim 1 | $56,000 | 220 | 200 | 250 | 0 | 19″ | 8.5 |
Trim 2 | $61,000 | 290 | 200 | 250 | 2,000 | 19″ | 8.9 |
Trim 3 | $63,000 | 260 | 400 | 380 | 3,500 | 19″ | 6 |
Trim 4 | $68,000 | 240 | 400 | 380 | 3,500 | 20″ | 6 |
Trim 5 | $73,000 | 240 | 400 | 480 | 4,500 | 21″ Black | 5.2 |
However, it is important to note these may change before production begins. Also, the survey may be designed to help Kia decide on trims to release.
