2023 Porsche Taycan gets increased range estimates through software improvements

When Porsche releases the 2023 model year Taycan, almost all variants will see their range increase thanks to “incremental software improvements.” The improvements can result in up to a 14.2% range bump, with only the GTS versions staying at their original estimates.

The big winner from the list of Taycan variants is the Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo, which sees its EPA estimated range increase from 204 miles to 233 miles (328km to 374km), an increase of 14.2%.

Outside of the GTS versions, the small range increase goes to the Taycan 4S sedan. Both the regular version and those with the Performance Battery Plus option will see just a 3.5% bump, going from 199 miles to 206 miles (320km to 331km) and 227 miles to 235 miles (365km to 378km) respectively.

A full list of the range updates can be found in the table at the bottom of this article.

Porsche didn’t specify the details of the software improvements that enabled these range increases, but earlier this year they announced a significant software update that will bring all Taycan’s up to the status of 2023 model years.

In that announcement Porsche said updates to the powertrain settings and thermal management options would increase range as much as 30mi or 50km.

While the range increase has been significant for some variants, the max range of the Taycan still is only 246 mi (396km). Previously the GTS held the title of the Taycan with the longest range, and it still does as its range did not change with this update.
