As Canadian deliveries near, Model Y VIN numbers are being assigned to reservation holders

Tesla is on track to begin delivering their new Model Y in Canada any day now. Over the weekend, the first Model Y was delivered to the Vancouver Tesla store to be prepped for delivery later this week.

Now some Model Y reservation holders are reportedly being assigned VINs (Vehicle Identification Numbers) for their upcoming deliveries.

A reservation holder in Montreal posted to the TMC forums that they received a call from Tesla informing him they had a VIN for his order. He explained he wasn’t able to find the VIN in his account, but was told Tesla would email him the VIN, and his delivery would take place between June 17 and June 23.

If you want to know if a VIN has been assigned to your order, there is a way to find it before it officially appears in your account.

Log in to your Tesla account, and click on the “Manage” button. Once the page has loaded, right click anywhere on the page and select “View page source” or Ctrl+U in a Chrome browser, or right-click and select “View source” if using Internet Explorer. This will bring up a page with a bunch of code on it. Hit Ctrl+F (Find) and search for “5YJ”.

If you find a reference that contains 5YJ, followed by a series of letters and numbers, you have your VIN.
