Tesla introduces new Plaid and Plaid+ Model S variants, first deliveries beginning in March

Tesla announced the highly-anticipated Model S refresh in its Q4 2020 financial update. Soon after the automaker updated their website giving us more information about the changes, and there is one really big change.

Last year Tesla revealed a new Plaid Model S that was scheduled to be released in late 2021. Today the automaker updated it to the Plaid+ variant, maintaining a late 2021 delivery target.

The big change though is the introduction of a Plaid Model S that will begin deliveries in March 2021.

Priced at $159,900, the Plaid Model S will reach 100km/h in just 2.1 seconds thanks to 1,020 horsepower from three high-performance drive units. To help stop the vehicle from its 320km/h top speed will be new carbon-sleeved rotors.

Even with all that speed and power, it still gets an impressive 628km of EPA estimated range on a single charge.

The specs for the Plaid+ Model S haven’t changed. It is still scheduled for a late 2021 release at the same $189,900 CAD price when it was first announced.
