Earlier this week the UK government announced changes to their electric vehicle (EV) incentive program specifically aimed at excluding the Tesla Model 3.
Updates to the program reduced the maximum price of eligible vehicles from £50,000 to £35,000, and also reduced the incentive from £3,000 to £2,500. With a starting price well above that limit, the Model 3 became more expensive overnight.
In response Tesla is now offering a special deal to customers. If they take delivery before March 31, 2021, the automaker will cover the lost £2,500 incentive.

With less than two weeks to go, Tesla is also likely making this offer as a way to boost Q1 2021 sales.
The changes to the UK EV incentive program came after the rise in popularity of the electric sedan that saw it outsell all other cars in the UK in December 2020.
