South Koreans continue to show a strong affinity towards Tesla. In June the Model 3 was the best-selling import in the country, displacing the Model Y which was the top import in May.
Helping Tesla achieve their record second quarter, a total of 2,884 Model 3 sedans were sold in South Korea last month. That was a big increase from May where there were just 126 new Model 3’s sold. The low number was due in part to subsidy approval issues which delayed deliveries for most of the month.
After topping the list of best-selling imported vehicles in May, the Model Y had another strong month in June registered 1,972 sales in June.
The cumulative 4,860 vehicles sold during the month was enough to be the third most popular foreign automaker in the country. Mercedes Benz (6,845) and BMW (6,503) were the only two automakers to beat out Tesla.
The impressive results over the last few months have pushed Tesla’s sales in the first half of the year in South Korea higher by 64.3% to 11,629 units overall.
