Future software update to allow owners to adjust auto-dimming mirrors

One of the more polarizing features on the Tesla Model 3 are the auto-dimming side mirrors – owners either love them or hate them (or don’t even know they have them), with many wanting the option to turn them off entirely.

It appears those calls have been answered, with Elon Musk saying on Twitter that feature will be coming soon. Responding to a user who asked if the amount of auto-dimming could be adjustable or turned off entirely, Musk simply responded with “Yes”.

Designed to reduce glare from the headlights of vehicles behind you, this new feature will likely be available for the Model S, Model 3, and Model X. However, it will only impact Model 3’s built into early 2020, as Tesla recently removed the auto-dimming side mirrors as standard equipment on the Model 3 and Model Y.
