Elon Musk reveals that your Tesla will soon talk to people outside the vehicle using the PWS, publishes preview video

Last year Tesla began delivering vehicles with the Pedestrian Warning System installed in an advance effort to meet upcoming regulations. Since Tesla’s electric vehicles are so quiet, the system is meant to warn pedestrians and others outside the vehicle that it is approaching.

Now Tesla CEO Elon Musk has teased us with a new video showing a Model 3 using the PWS speaker to play a clip of it ‘talking’ to someone.

In the clip, the Tesla can be heard saying, “Well don’t just stand there staring, hop in. I didn’t practice that expression long,”, in a very British accent. From the video, it is tough to tell what, if anything, the occupants of the vehicle did to play the sound. It did appear that the two sentences were separate from each other, and it didn’t look like the occupants pressed any buttons for the second sentence to play.

Musk provided no further details about when this new feature will be released, but he did say the car will of course be able to fart in the direction of outsiders.

Does your Tesla have the PWS speaker installed? Are you looking forward to these new features?
