German Economy Minister Peter Altmaier said on Monday that he did not expect any major delays to the construction of Tesla’s factory near Berlin due to the coronavirus pandemic.

As these statements are being made, Tesla has begun constructing internal construction roads at the site. These roads will be used by the heavy equipment to construct the foundations and eventually the buildings at the site.

From the video below, taken on May 9, we can see the progress Tesla has already made at the 300-hectare Giga Berlin site, which is located in an industrial area outside Bradenburg. Tesla is planning on manufacturing the first vehicles in 2021, with the plant eventually producing up to 500,000 vehicles annually. Musk recently revealed the Giga Berlin site would manufacture the Model Y SUV for the European market.
