Porsche hit with class-action lawsuit in California due to defective Taycans

A Porsche customer in California has dragged the luxury automaker before the courts. The bone of contention is that the 2020-2021 Porsche Taycan did not give the value promised by the manufacturer.

The aggrieved customer says other owners of the 4S, Turbo, and Turbo S variants are affected, according to what Porsche technicians told him. He claims the cars came with defective cockpit displays and infotainment systems, including the integration with Apple CarPlay, air conditioning and heating, wireless mobile charging, etc., according to Car Complaints.

The owner also complained about the Taycan’s Smart Lift feature. It remembers locations where it feels the car should have greater clearance and automatically does it when it is at the location.

The suit alleges Porsche was aware of the faults in the EVs but went ahead to make buyers pay for them anyways, which amounts to false advertising.

While Porsche has done recalls to repair some features, the lawsuit claims not all the problems were solved. The plaintiff knocked the Apple CarPlay, which he claimed did not work at all sometimes, with the screen remaining blank for entire drives.

The class action lawsuit was filed in the Supreme Court of California for the County of Los Angeles. However, the case is now before the US District Court for the Central District of California.

The Taycan sales suffered a decline in the US again last quarter.
