Turo, the popular peer-to-peer (P2P) car sharing marketplace, is launching a new incentive program in Canada. In an effort to encourage more electric vehicle (EV) owners to share their cars on the P2P marketplace, Turo is offering a financial incentive to Canadian EV owners or those who are waiting for their new EV model to arrive, to list their vehicles for booking.
Under this incentive program, Turo will match host earnings up to $1,000 for qualifying EVs listed on the marketplace. Beyond this incentive, hosting an EV on Turo provides owners with the chance to generate additional monthly income, helping to offset the expenses associated with owning an EV. According to Turo, hosts in Canada earn an average of $732 per month*, making it a great opportunity to earn extra money on an otherwise idle asset.
Not only will the host earn extra income, but they will also help increase EV adoption by exposing more Canadians to EVs.
“Committed to an EV-friendly future, Canadians’ lack of experience with EVs remains a strong barrier to adoption.Given the continued interest in extended test drives, we introduced this incentive program as we believe increased exposure to EVs may accelerate ownership and usage in Canada,” said Cedric Mathieu, Senior VP and Head of Canada at Turo.
Eligibility Requirements
To take advantage of this promotion, owners of one or more of the eligible EVs in Canada can start listing their vehicles on Turo starting today until September 30, 2023 . To qualify for the incentive, hosts must earn a minimum of $500 with these eligible vehicles before September 30, 2023. Car models that are eligible for the incentive program include:
- Any Rivian model
- Any Polestar model
- Ford F-150 Lightning
- BMW iX
- Cadillac Lyriq

Rising Demand for EVs on Turo
Turo currently has over 100 unique EV makes and models available throughout Canada. The company has observed a significant increase in the use of the “electric” filter for summer** trips in Canada compared to the previous year, demonstrating a growing interest in electric vehicles among Turo guests. Last year, cities including Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Mississauga, and Calgary witnessed the highest number of EV bookings, indicating strong demand in these urban centers.
EV hosts on Turo across Canada have been able to find success. Just last year, the Turo blog interviewed Ontario host, June H., who shared that she initially joined the platform to pay off her Tesla, which had an eight-year term and $500 per month payment. She simply wanted to make double her payment, or just enough to cover it during slower months. Within the first month of listing her car, she hit the $1000 mark.
“In my first month, the car was booked something like half the time I had it,” said June. “So I was really happy, and then because of that within a month, I decided to sell my car and upgrade to a 2021 Model 3 and then within two weeks after that I bought a second Tesla, a Model Y, just because of how well Turo was going.”
Currently, June has two active EVs available for booking on Turo: a MINI Hardtop 3 Door 2022 and Tesla Model 3 2022.

Terms and Conditions
Turo will match your earnings up to $1,000 if you qualify for the Turo Canada July 2023 EV incentive.
To be eligible for this incentive, you must:
- Enroll in the incentive program by filling out the form
- List one of the following eligible vehicles in Canada by September 30, 2023:
- Any Rivian model
- Any Polestar model
- Ford F-150 Lightning
- BMW iX
- Cadillac lyric
- Make at least $500 in host earnings with the eligible vehicle by September 30, 2023.
Only actual host earnings will be considered to calculate the incentive amount. “Actual host earnings” are equivalent to the daily rate amount received by the host for bookings on the eligible vehicle listing during the incentive period (ending on September 30, 2023). This does not include any Extras fees, additional fees, or Turo fees. Turo will add the applicable earnings incentive to your account no later than October 30, 2023, if you meet the above mentioned criteria. Limited to one enrollment (one vehicle, one incentive) per host.
