One of the more eagerly anticipated electric reveals coming soon was set to be the GMC Hummer EV, originally scheduled to take place on May 20, 2020.
As has been the case with almost everything over the past few months, GMC has reportedly cancelled the live unveiling due to the ongoing health crisis related to COVID-19.
According to a report by CarBuzz, the event, which was supposed to take place in Michigan, has not yet been given a new date. There is also the option the event may instead be live-streamed, instead of packing a room full of journalists and other industry insiders.
Along with Tesla and other auto manufacturers, GMC has been forced to shut down its facilities due to the coronavirus measures implemented across the country. With no employees and no factories turned on to build the prototype Hummer EVs, it is unlikely the event will still take place by livestream on May 20.
Scheduled to be released in late 2021, the electric Hummer is set to have an estimated 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque, and a 0-60mph time of 3 seconds, making it a serious Cybertruck contender.
