The city of Dollard-des-Ormeaux in Quebec is looking to incentivize its citizens to invest in home EV charging.
The city is offering a subsidy of 25 per cent for the purchase and installation of an EV charging station to a maximum of $150 per charging station.
The program will offer one EV charger per residence. While if you have a property with six units or less, you can receive two EV charging station subsidies.
The subsidy will cover three EV charging stations for properties with seven units or more.
Mayor Alex Bottausci said this on the new program:
“This is just one of the many initiatives we have in DDO. We are delighted to be able to offer this (subsidy) to our residents.”
The new bylaw will launch the domestic-use subsidy program, but the city did not confirm when the program will come online.
This is not the first community to offer such a program in Quebec. In 2019, the city of Dorval launched a similar program. Dorval’s subsidy program would cover 50 per cent of the costs incurred for a residential charging station up to a maximum of $500.
