General Motor’s announced that the company has already received 233,000 expressions of interest in the new Cadillac Lyriq EV.
According to reporting by Reuters, the company believes that demand will be there for the new vehicle.
Cadillac’s Global Vice President Rory Harvey noted at a press briefing that:
“We can’t tell yet how many of those will translate into orders. Typically, 10% of hard raisers turn into orders – we anticipate a higher order rate.”
In February, GM told suppliers to gear up for the production of 25,000 Lyrics. Initially, GM planned to produce 3,200 vehicles in 2022.
The Lyriq EV goes into limited production starting on March 21 next week at GM’s Spring Hill Plant in Tennessee.
GM will produce rear-wheel-drive models first, and send those models to US dealers in late May. While the AWD model will hit the production line in late 2022.
Orders will open up for the Lyriq on May 19 in the US. Customers can order either the rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive models. However, they will have to wait until late 2022 or early 2023 for the AWD version.
In a bit of a change-up, customers looking to order the Lyriq can order through the brand’s new digital retail platform. The customer can choose which dealership they want to send the vehicle to for pickup.
