The BC Government announces new funding to help promote EV uptake

The British Columbia government is funding another round of the Community Outreach Incentive Program (COIP). The COIP educates and encourages people to switch to electric vehicles.

This latest round of funding includes both provincial-wide and regional programs.

The British Columbia government is providing $118,000 through the COIP and will partner with the Emotive outreach and awareness campaign. The campaign will include delivering local and regional EV-awareness campaigns.

These campaigns will consist of video production, demonstrations and EV events throughout British Columbia.

COIP funding also provides additional funding to the Clean Transportation Targets and Planning (CTTP) pilot. This pilot supports policy planning, target setting and policy implementation throughout British Columbia.

This round of COIP funding also included $13,000 to the Musqueam Indian Band to create a series of videos. These videos will promote the health and environmental benefits of EVs.

Funding is also supporting the research and planning for the electrification of the Musqueam vehicle fleet.

In addition, the Resort Municipality of Whistler and the District of Squamish received $9,960 in COIP funding. The region will develop videos that profile drivers in the commuter workforce in the Sea-to-Sky region. In addition, the Resort Municipality of Whistler also received $15,040 under the CTTP pilot to develop an e-mobility strategy for EVs and e-bikes.
