Lightning eMotors enters Canadian Commercial EV Market

Lightning eMotors official entered the Canadian commercial EV market with their first delivery of all-electric cargo vans.

This week, the company delivered ten all-electric T-350HD cargo vans to Montreal-based Goodfood Market Corp.

Lightning eMotors electrified the T-350HDs by adding an all-electric powertrain, electrical infrastructure and control software to support the vehicle’s operation.

Each refrigerated cargo van has an estimated range of 195km (121 miles) on a full charge from the 86 kWh battery pack. In addition, the vans have regenerative braking and can comfortably drive highway speeds.

The T-350HD project was in partnership with Volta Air. Volta installed a 12-volt dedicated battery-powered refrigeration system to optimize the delivery range of Goodfood’s same-day delivery operations.

The units have a cooling capacity down to -15 degrees Celsius.

Based in Loveland, Colorado, Lightning eMotors produces an all-electric powertrain and medium-duty and specialty commercial electric fleet vehicles. The company currently has a wide range of cargo and passenger vans.

They also produce Class 4 Type A school and Class 7 city buses, Class 6 work trucks, and Class A motor coaches.
