Tesla Full Self-Driving subscription finally arrives in the US

The long awaited Full Self-Driving (FSD) subscription had finally arrived. The new option is appearing for owners in the US, but unfortunately Canada is not included in the release yet.

The biggest question leading up to the release of the subscription service is the price. We now know it will cost $199.00 USD per month. Many thought owners might have to lock in for a certain period of time, but according to the terms of the subscription you can cancel at any time.

The other big question was how Tesla was going to handle cars that did not already have the HW3.0 computer that is required for FSD to work. Previously if you bought the full FSD package outright the computer upgrade would be included in the price.

Now owners without HW3.0 will have to pay $1,500 USD to receive the new computer when subscribing to FSD.

The subscription service is even cheaper for owners with Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) at just $99/month.

To subscribe, visit the upgrades tab of the Tesla Mobile App.

This is a developing story, check back for updates…

UPDATE: Tesla has also published a support page for FSD subscriptions, you can check that out here.
