Ontario’s Brock University has begun construction on their 20 new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations on campus.
The new chargers were first announced in February, and made possible by funding through Natural Resources Canada’s Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program which contributed $235,000 to the project.
In partnership with Blackstone Energy Services, seventeen Level 2 chargers are being installed, along with 3 DC fast charging stations. The stations will be scattered across several parkings lots on the university campus.
“By increasing the number of charging stations in our community, we hope to see more people opting for greener options in the future,” said Scott Johnstone, Senior Associate Vice-President, Infrastructure and Operations.
The chargers will be operated on the ChargePoint network, allowing staff and students to check on their EVs with realtime information through the mobile app.
Construction will be complete and the EV chargers ready for when students return to classes in the fall.
